This is the center of the Houg Kong orchid blossom. We have a tree in our backyard loaded with flowers. We planted it from seed, and a few years later it is about 15 feet tall.

This is but a small segment of spoonbills preening themselves so they look good to the opposite sex. Mating season is very interesting, even for the spectators.
Ding Darling wildlife refuge is a great place to visit,even if there are no birds in sight.

You can tell that this spoonbill is in breeding plumage because of the orange feathers located on the birds rump.
It’s hard to predict whether or not a sunset will be spectacular, but they are all pretty good.
Spoonbills are usually very shy and stay out in the middle of this lagoon where we can’t get to them. I feel lucky to have been at the right place and time.
