Preening
This is but a small segment of spoonbills preening themselves so they look good to the opposite sex. Mating season is very interesting, even for the spectators.

You can tell that this spoonbill is in breeding plumage because of the orange feathers located on the birds rump.
Spoonbills are usually very shy and stay out in the middle of this lagoon where we can’t get to them. I feel lucky to have been at the right place and time.
I saw this guy two days ago at Ding Darling Wildlife refuge
This photo was taken at Ding Darling Wildlife Refuge. The bird was in a mudflat and I really did not like the background. My solution was to find a photo of Ireland from space and repurpose it with the help of a couple of Photoshop filters.
I love bees and have taken many photos of them. The coneflowers are magnets for bees and butterflies.
Before MS I tried to make each painting seem like a photograph, but here have evolved to taking a photo and making it seem like a painting.
I really enjoy taking pictures of bees on flowers and when the bees are busy, they tend to ignore you. This is a Photoshop “painting.”
This species is native to Florida but difficult to find; this was taken at a butterfly exhibit.
This butterfly is living in my back yard. We have a large selection that flutter by throughout the day. We have many plants that attract all sorts of butterflies. The trick is to always have a camera with you at all times so that when they fly by you are ready to shoot.
